The Fratton Roar

Created by: Mark Kellett

Sponsored by: Portsmouth Football Club

Location: Fratton Park

The Fratton Roar is inspired by Mark’s memories and adventures growing up in Portsmouth. He spent his childhood in Landport and would often cycle to Fratton Park on Saturdays to catch the last ten minutes of the games.

His grandfather’s house was only a stone’s throw from the stadium, and together would listen to the roar of the crowd and the Pompey chimes echoing across the streets.

The artwork also incorporates visual elements inspired by maps and aerial patterns of Mark’s favourite places in the city and areas he holds close to his heart. The result is a design that reflects both personal memory and a love for Portsmouth and its history.
