Leonardo da Pompey

Created by: Louise Braithwaite

Sponsored by: Biscoes Solicitors

Location: Port Solent

After spending the past ten years painting different Portsmouth landmarks, Louise wanted to bring together everything she loves about the city – its character and its identity.

It was difficult to choose, but she settled on the Historic Dockyard, Clarence Pier, the Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth Cathedral, Dickens’ House, Fratton Park, Portsmouth Guildhall, Southsea Castle and Southsea Common.

She also included well‑known Portsmouth icons such as the Isle of Wight and Gosport ferries, the Hovercraft and a navy aircraft carrier. All of these are connected by a circular path around the lion, filled with the many small figures that are typical of her painting style.
